TP240x Win2k installation issue

#1 Post by D3c » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:50 am

Hi,

I'm about to install Win2k on my "new" TP 240x but I need to get some things straight before I start off. Right know, I know that...

1) I have to remove the harddrive from the 240x and...
2) Remove the harddrive from my T42 and replace it with the harddrive from the 240x
3) Start my T42 and....

That's all I know. I guess I have to copy the Win2k installation files to the 240x harddrive but how do I do so? What tools do I need?

Some help would be appreciated :)

Thanks,
Christian

FYI:

I figured it out myself.

The solution was to remove the harddrive, put it into another computer with a cdrom- and floppy-drive.

Then I'd boot from a Win98 cd, copy "xcopy.exe" (Google it. The normal "copy" function doesn't support copying directories) from the floppy-drive to the harddrive.

Switch the Win98 cd to a Win2k cd and copy the contents to the harddrive.

Put the harddrive back into the 240x and boot from a Win98-bootdisk and then run the "winnt.exe" in the i386 folder because the normal "setup.exe" doesn't support DOS-mode.
