Incorrect hard drive HD size on thinkpad 600x per Win XP

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded the 12 GB IBM Travelstar hard drive running Windows XP sp2 with a Toshiba IC25N020ATDA04 20GB hard drive, using Powerquest drive image to transfer all the settings and files to the new drive (FAT32). The drive tests out to specification just fine and the image was successfully restored but even though Partitiion Magic sees the drive as 20GB, Windows Explorer only sees 12 GB. I am not sure what the problem is and I did not find anything in the BIOS regarding IDE dirve setup/detection. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance...

No, the IC25N020ATDA04 is a Travelstar drive, too, either labeled IBM (if it's an older one) or Hitachi Global Storage (in case it's rather new; the IBM hard drive branch has been acquired by Hitachi a while ago).

I suppose the partition Drive Image created on the new drive is only 12GB (like the original), so that the rest of the hard drive currently remains unused. Either enlarge the existing partition or create a second one in the unused space (via Partition Magic, for instance). Besides that, I strongly recommend to change the file system from FAT32 to NTFS5, as it is far superior.
