Purchased this TP from my company. Drive was formatted. I installed Win2KPro. According to:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... us&lang=en
****************************
For models that shipped with the Software Selection CD, the patch is included on the CD. For models that did not ship with a Software Selection CD, the patch is included on the hard disk drive in the C:\IBMTOOLS directory.

Please see the ThinkPad Assistant on-line manual for instructions on finding and applying the necessary patch. The instructions can be found in the section that describes how to install Microsoft Windows 2000.

To open the ThinkPad Assistant: Click Start, then select Programs, then click ThinkPad Information, then click ThinkPad Assistant.
******************

For some reason I have the i-1200 Software Selections disk rather than 1300. Of course there is no ThinkPad assistant or C:\IBMTOOLS since the drive was reformatted. Can someone locate this patch for me? It is nowhere on the IBM site. Maybe it could be emailed to me?

Thanks,
Linda

That's not necessarily the wrong CD. IBM didn't distinguish on many of the CD labels between the 1200 and 1300. Check the CD for the patch.

How do I find it?

How do I know where on the disk to find the patch? Is there a particular directory, file name, etc, that I should be looking for? I've searched the CD but haven't found anything that sounds likely.

Thanks,
Linda

It states that it is a Microsoft patch... have you tried using "Windows Update" - perhaps that will locate the necessary patch...

Just install the latest Service Pack. That should include the updated file.

I even found the patch on the disk, *after* I'd updated to SP4 and it said it would run only on SP1. Wireless card had same symptoms in SP4 as in the original Win2K installation. So I reformatted and started over. Didn't work. I found the restore CD that came with the Thinkpad and simply applied that. All works just fine and he'll just have to put up with WinME. At least the wireless card works flawlessly!

Thanks,
Linda
