IBM 600 memory capacity

This is weird. I put a low density 256mb pc100/133 memory module in the second slot of my TP600(not E or X) and it recognized every megabyte of it. I thought only the E and X can use 256mb memory modules.

Nope. Most computers using the 440BX chipset will recognize it. Just be careful with the really oddball computers like the 560Z which has the 440BX chipset but uses EDO RAM.

Can you post the brand and Manufacturer part # of the RAM you used? Also what BIOS version you have?

i'm in the process of upgrading a tp600 233mghz
to intel mobile r 400mmc1 cpu
24x24x8x24 cdrw/dvd combo drive
5400 rpm 30gb hdd, 288mb ram.

544mb implicates even the oldest 600 sereis thinkpads are here to stay :wink:
160 mb handles xp no sweat
