Found it in a pile of donated machines. It has to be an engineering sample because it's like brand new, no marks or damage, and there's no stickers underneath as well as no serial number either. It powers on, but just need to install an OS and hopefully find a battery for it. Once I figure out how to remove the plastic cover underneath the keyboard, I'll upgrade the hard drive. Definately museum quality.

That is, if it is indeed an internal engineering model, an amazingly rare find. :D

Hopefully, if it is as you say it is, you'd be willing to share pics with the rest of us. Some of us are really fascinated with these older systems....especially those that appear to be rare.

I'll have to take some pics and share them so others can check it out. It does have a serial number, but it's on a sticker, and it does not start with a 23 or 78 like most serial numbers did at that time.

Although I cant prove it, I do believe it to be an engineering sample as the other IBM PCs that were with it had stickers showing various hardware combinations as well as the internal code name for the machines.

Well, if this is as you think, that's great. If you have the time (and a good camera) why not put our Pictures forum to use and show that thing to the world.
