I've been working with my 760XL and 701C recently, and noticed (no surprise) that all my old batteries are long dead. Is there a reliable source for batteries for these old machines (in other words, not the dealers in dead batteries on eBay, like the one who says "Removed from a working system more than a month ago!" in his descriptions - not sure if he's still around, but that description left it a bit open how long ago the battery was removed from a working system)
Also, one of my old 701C batteries leaked some white powder into the machine. I was able to clean most of it out with a cotton swab and some water, but I wonder if there's a recommended way to get rid of that stuff?

I've never tried them, but some members have reported good results from Batteryrefill.com ( http://www.batteryrefill.com/laptops/ibm/index.phtml )
Regarding the "white powder" you might want to try a baking soda solution along the lines of what can be found here http://ohioline.osu.edu/aex-fact/0596_2.html under "Vent caps are tight and level" safety tips.
(I don't think many Amish have read the Buggy Battery Safety Fact sheet on line)

Thanks for that - I actually tried BatteryRefill.com for a 600X battery, and the results were mixed. When the battery came back, it was a bit bulkier than when I sent it away, but the mA rating was higher than the original model. But the refilled battery lasted only a few weeks and then died completely. So I don't think I'll repeat the experiment...
Baking soda and water - will definitely give that a try to clean out the residue of the leaking 701C battery...

Try these guys: www.kahlon.com (I bought the memory for my 365x from them, based on recommendation from this board.)
