i1200 Wireless

#1 Post by Kanebra » Tue Jul 25, 2006 10:24 am

Curious if anyone has ever installed a mini PCI wireless card in their type 1161 i1200.

I came across an original wireless mini PCI card (FRU 08K3309) in an old S30 (seems to use the same part as the i1200) and thought I would install it in my i1200 to free up the PCMCIA slot.

Has anyone done this? Where did you evnentually install the antenna?

Has anyone had any luck with more advanced mini PCI cards? Type IIIa's? Ever get a Type IIIb to fit/work? Any issues?

That's actually not a bad idea. Have you tried it out yet?

Just check to make sure your laptop has a miniPCI slot because some i1200 series laptops don't.

I just found out that my i1200 has a Mini PCI slot. Anyone know off hand which type it is (ie Type IA/IB, Type IIIA/IIIB).?
