570 lcd

#1 Post by barnane » Sat Aug 05, 2006 6:44 am

hello,

as i broke the lcd on my 570 (13.3 inch) I´m looking
for an new one. There are several 13.3 displays for a couple of models... does a 13.3 from a 390, 600 or 7xx fit in a 570? as the cable
still works it´s just a matter of the connector on the lcd. does anyone know if there are lcds from other models working as well??

thanks
barnane

The last time that I purchased a 600 LCD, it was sold as a working LCD for a 570 or 600 series Thinkpad....so it should work for you. I am not sure about the 7xx and the 390, but I don't think that there would be a problem, as long as they are the same specs.

i don't think the panel will work from anything but a 600 or 570..
but the HMM will tell THAT tale..
but if it were me seeking a panel replacement i would look for one that would bolt up without taking it out of the top housing..

This may be a good option for you because all you have to do is swap the entire top.

Hello,

thanks for all your quick replies! If I got you right, the lcd from a 13.3 inch TP600 should work in my 570? Has anyone ever prooved that?
I don´t mind to change the lcd, as it´s less work than changing the entire top...
So, anyone ´s got a working lcd for me? If so, how much including shipping to Germany?

Thanks
barnane

proved for the 13.3 display that it won`t fit :(
connectors on the backside of the panel are of different size,
just tried to connect a 600e lcd, 13.3, fru 05K9346(broken but still in function) to a 570 13.3 cable.

having changed several 600 series 13.3 displays ,
afair they all have the same connector on the backside.

display cable connectors on the 570 + 600 mobo for 13.3 are also different
(btw, 600 has different mobo`s for different lcd`s/resolutions)

Yes, I did. Just have to ask them about shipping costs to Germany.
Auction ends in 2 days, we´ll see....

Thanks for your advice.

Maybe try this

I bought a screen for my 570 from them and although I have not installed it yet, they were kind enough to sell it to an unlisted shipping-destination (note how Germany is listed !) and it arrived quickly, safely packed and the screen looked very good -from what you can tell about an uninstalled part, of course)

@RfromR

thanks for your advice but fortunately, I found a display from Germany for about 20Euros (which is about 25USD) including shipping.
Must arrive theses days. And I ´ll get a 570E with a defective backlight for about 45USD. The backlight of the broken lcd still works, so I just have to change...

By the way, international shipping is that expensive...
saw so many nice things on ebay.com but amazing expensive counting all costs together

True...I am economical only when it comes to purchasing price.

Because when the item arrives I get so enthousiastic about it, that I lose that sense and often spend the same amount or more to repair its flaws. :D

Anyways, good luck with your backlight replacement.
