Sizzling noise from display

#1 Post by RonS » Mon Aug 07, 2006 6:12 pm

I'm trying to fix up an old Thinkpad 600e. The display is very dark, so I just replaced the inverter board. When I power up, I hear a sizzling noise coming from the top right corner of the display.

The display stays bright for a few seconds while the sizzling noise is audible. When the sizzling noise stops, the displays turns dark.

Does anyone have an idea what this is?
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

Yes the connection at the backlight, right before the lamp.
