I tried to copy a file in my computer 600X, when suddenly it stopped and it do not can restart any more. I tried to reinstall Windows, but every time a blue screen under DOS appears and terminated the installation because of error. I doubt hardly that it is the controlleur of disk. Knowing that I can start it under DOS commands of CD-WIN98. Then is there any solution (BIOS or DOS).

It is very hard to help you. You do not give enough information. And I have difficulties with your English.

Questions: What Operating System do you have on it right now? What is the exact error message? Are you trying to reinstall now? Or do you want to fix your original installation?

My guess [Idea 1]: if you are running Windows 98SE, then maybe you have a problem with your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files -- maybe you are trying to load a device that is no longer present or a file that is missing?

I don't have any OS because I have formated the disk without any problem. But now I can't install any windows, I tried Win98, Win Me, Win XP. A blue screen appear when Windows installation try to install the drivers of devices. the error is that windows find an error in a file of installation. but those CDs work correctly in other computers. I think that's a physical problem in the motherbord like Hard disk controller or an other device.
NB: I've installed MSDOS in it and it works good with all MSDOS programs.

OK.

Idea 2:
Is it possible the problem is with your hard disk? You say you formatted it. Did you delete all old partitions using fdisk? And then create a single partition for your Windows installation, and format it in Fat32 format. It is best to do all this formatting work with the hard disk installed in your 600X - do not transfer the hard drive from another system after formatting it there.

Idea 3:
You can run tests on your hardware to check it. To test your 600X, use the PC Doctor diagnostic II diskette - ThinkPad 240, 390E/X, 570/E, 600X, 1157, 1400, 1500.

Another thing that may cause that error is the cd drive, Can you try the OS installation using another cd drive?

Memory module problems can also cause hung or incomplete windows installation. Clean the edge contacts with pencil eraser then reseat. If one module is suspect to be defective, try to install with the minimum allowed for your OS to possibly eliminate the faulty one. You may have to do a trial and error with each module to do this.
