Hello,

I have a ThinkPad 600E, type 2645-4A0. But I read a lot about problems with other types, concerning upgrades of CPU, RAM and hard disk. Last week I got 128 MB RAM and it don't work in my machine, but in my friends machine it works!

So, which types are the good / bad one?

Best regards

Harald

What type of memory are you using now pc66 or pc100?

And also do you have applied any bios update?

I use PC100. Yes, maybe I need a BIOS update!

My question is also more general. Which TP 600E type is the best for upgrading? What is your experience of good or bad types?

Personally, I liked all of the 600Es, but the ones that I have seen that had the most trouble in upgrading were the 2645-55x and 2645-A5x. They even have a different BIOS than the other 600Es. They are the red headed step child, if you will. The upgrade thread references to the BIOS hack isn't the same on these models.

That seems to agree with the two different BIOS updates which are available for the TP 600E. The IHET47WW is for the types 2645 - 55x, 57x, 58x, A5x. Perhaps this different BIOS is responsible for the problems?
