Running Win.98SE, I still have a "resource" memory conflict in "Other Devices". It show's, " PCI Multimedia Audio Device" and under that " UnKnown Device".
The PCI one show's conflicts in memory.
The Unkown Device one, doesn't show anything except the yellow! pt.
As you can see from my previous Post.( Abt. 4 post's down the list. ) I was able to resolve the other prob. with a "Suppliment" download/install.
I fooled with This most of yesterday and made no progress. My real goal is to get a dial-up connection set-up and running. Can't find out what Modem is installed to do the set-up. There is none shown anywhere. Thought maybe these conflict's were why it show's no Modem?
Your patience and suggestion's will be appreciated.
Please make no further reply's or comment's, I'll find what I need on the WEB. J.D

After installing 98 and the necessary drivers for the installed hardware, there should be no conflicts.....have you installed the modem drivers for 98????

[edit: Darn, Greg answered your question while I was writing!]
To install 98SE correctly onto a 770X, you should follow the instructions provided by the IBM Support pages: Installing Windows 98 and its device drivers - ThinkPad 770X. Before installing each software/driver item, however, I would double-check the file links on that page against those provided on the Software and Device Drivers - ThinkPad 770 (otherwise known as the Device driver file matrix for the 770 series. And in general, your starting point for information about your ThinkPad, how to install software, and where to check for further info should be the IBM Support page for your model: Product information - ThinkPad 770X or one of the more specific model number pages which you can locate by typing in your exact 770X model number into the "QuickPath" search box available on the ThinkPad 770X support pages.
All the various exclamation marks and weird devices should disappear or be fixed up if you follow the Windows 98 install instructions provided by IBM.
