TP 390X Power on issue

#1 Post by robskorner » Tue Sep 12, 2006 10:07 pm

Had a weird problem develop on my 390X the other day. Upon plugging the laptop into AC it will power on on it's own and hang on the splash screen and the fan does not come on. If you remove the battery and the AC cord. Reinsert the battery and then the AC plug the laptop does not power on by itself and when you press the power switch it turns and boots to Windows.

The laptop will not do it if you leave the battery out. Trying to figure out if the battery may be dying and causing problems or if maybe the DC board has a quirk.

If anyone has ever seen this I'd be curious as to what is causing it. My short term solution is to put the battery in after hooking to AC and turning it on.

We had a 600X that was similar. You can spend months on this and never figure it out.
