570e loose LCD panel hinge

The 570e that I acquired has a hinge problem. The hinges themselves are not wobbly, but seem to not apply enough resistance to the LCD panel. Unless it is nearly vertical, the slightest bump will cause it to fall forwards or backwards. And it will not stay up at all at any significant angle.
Does anyone have any experience with fixing this?

Check all the screws associated with the LCD panel hinges. These include 4 on the bottom half of the unit (two on either side; covered up by oblong shape stickers) and two inside the LCD panel. It sounds like some of these might be loose. Check the hardware maintenance manual linked in the FAQ for information about getting to these screws.

The four at the back are tight. I guess I wiill have to start tearing things apart to see the others.

Well, it won't really be tearing too much apart. Just remove the two circular shaped stickers on the LCD bezel (located under the screen; one on either side) and undo the screws and then carefully and slowly try pulling the bezel away. Make sure all the screws inside are tight. Again, if you need help with any of that, the maintenance manual is the best place to check.

One problem solved another (lesser) one found.
The loose screen on my 570e had two causes.
First, the screw holding the right hand hinge to the base of the machine had come out. Putting it back in helped a little and was essential once the other problem was solved. Incidently, this much required pulling the keyboard back and unscrewing and pulling back a little the frame (1050 from the Maintenance Manual).
Second, the pin in the right hinge had worked itself out by over an eight of an inch. Forcing it back unavoidably requires removing the screen bezel and the use of a set of needle noose pliers. Once forced back, the screen resistance was perfect.
The new minor problem involves the central cover (1060; between the keyboard and bottom of the lcd. The little part on its left side where the pin from the lcd makes contact when shutting up the computer so as to shut off the screen had come detached. Now I must figure out how to fix it back in place it.
