Thinkpad 600E modem internal error

#1 Post by douglas998 » Mon Aug 23, 2004 8:47 am

I recently reinstalled Windows ME on a TP660E and, since then, have been getting an "MWME0001 Modem Internal Error" on booting and have to shut down the modem. I did not have this problem with the previous installation of WinME. I was directed to the MWREGFIX.EXE patch at another support forum and, although the symptoms for the patch were the same as mine, it did not fix the problem.

I have serached the archives of several forums and found that other people with the same problem have not be able to fix it using the patch. Does anyone have any other suggestions or experinece with fixing this problem?

I fixed mine (same error) by fresh installing Windows - Win SE in my case.

Hope this helps.

MWREGFIX usually works for Win2k and XP. There's a fix for this error on the microsoft web site also that might work.

I'm having this same problem with a fresh win98se install. The link is for 2000/XP. Can anyone help me with this?

I have the same problem. I tried the "fix" to no avail, and also uninstalled and re-installed the modem software.

Now I plan to purchase a PCMCIA modem.
