IBM ThinkPad 340CSE laptop maximum upgradation

#4 Post by T.A.SRINIVAS » Mon Jul 16, 2007 5:28 am

IBM ThinkPad 340CSE maximum upgradation:

Dear Friends,

I am also one of the user of the vintage laptop IBM ThinkPad 340CSE and I could upgrade the laptop up to the following specifications (Both hardware & software applications, etc.) but all it requires is only to spend a little money happily:

01. IBM ThinkPad Laptop, 50MHz, 2.1GB HDD, 12MB RAM
02. External 4AH Battery Pack
03. Carrying case
04. Power adapter
05. Power cord
06. Windows 95 operating system
07. Windows 95 ThinkPad setup diskette
08. ThinkPad System program service diskette (BIOS v1.41)
09. Start up disk-Windows 95
10. ThinkPad configuration utilities diskette
11. Manual-Hardware Operation & Maintenance
12. IBM Optical PS/2 mouse
13. NETGEAR FA411 PCMCIA-LAN Adapter & driver
14. Xircom Real port modem56 PCMCIA & driver
15. Transcend PCMCIA Compact Flash memory (1GB & 256MB)
16. ActiSys IR-220L+ Infrared Adapter

With this new configuration I am able to use this vintage ThinkPad- a. to login on the LAN network with PCMCIA adapter
b. Dial up network with PCMCIA 56K modem
c. Additional memory up to 2GB with Compact Flash (More capacity
possible with higher CF capacity)
d. Browse the Internet with GPRS enabled cell phone through
ActiSys 220L+ Infrared port.

I am fully satisfied with this configuration. Any information/technical support required you may contact me through email tasrinivas@gail.co.in

I too have an TP 340CSE.

I installed a bigger harddrive (2 GB, could probalby go up to 8 GB), and added 8 MB RAM (for a total of 12 MB) by use of an memory card (something from Transcend).
I heard you could even install a 16 MB card for a total of 20 MB.

Any chance you could send me diskimages of these?
I got my 340CSE used, without any software, and I was unable to find anything on www.ibm.com.

I have a XIRCOM Realport 10/100+Modem (modem and fast ethernet) and a NETGEAR MA401 (WLAN, 11mbits, works like a charme under Win95).

Software for ThinkPad 340CSE

#6 Post by T.A.SRINIVAS » Tue Jul 17, 2007 1:25 am

As required by you I can provide the following software but I do not know how to send the software. Because email do not allow executive files:

1. ThinkPad 340CSE Utilities diskette
2. ThinkPad 340 CSE System Program Service Diskette
3. ThinkPad 340CSE Windows95 setup diskette

Please guide me how to provide on the internet so that many ThinkPad 340CSE users may get these software.

You can probably upload them to your yahoo briefcase and make it public access, of if you have a webspace, you can upload it there.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Hosting ThinkPad 340CSE software

#9 Post by T.A.SRINIVAS » Thu Jul 19, 2007 1:44 am

Dear Moronoxyd

I have tried with the user name and pass word provided by you to put the software but the ftp server could not open. It appears that the time allowed for the entry of data may have elapsed. If so please re-allow the time for atleast 2 days.

T.A.Srinivas

There is no time limit.
And I just checked the login data I gave you, it is correct too.

Maybe your FTP client is set to passive mode, and your firewall is blocking the connection from the server?
