odd stripe on screen

i have a 600 e my first thinkpad i really like it so far the only problem is it has a odd stripe that runs up and down on the screen sometimes it is blue sometimes it is red depends on what the background is it is some what annoying not not impossible to use that way i was just wondering if anyone would have an suggestion of how i could get rid of it i would not be scared to change the screen if that is what is needed this is my first post but by no means am i new at this always used desktop will try anything just don`t want to waist my time doing something i don`t have to would like any advice anyone would give thanks

The stripe can be seen while the windows boot screen is on? Or it also appears in black backgrounds?
If so, yes you will need a LCD replacement.

You may want to check your LCD cables to see that they are properly seated.

the stripe is there all the time and yes i have checked the cables have had it apart a few times it is an 600e running at p3 600 can be maxed out at 750 if i do the speed step mod i gues it is off to ebay to pick up a screen or maybe an whole one for parts am i correct that one from a 660,600e,600x will all fit are there any other ones that will fit that i could look for good parts for the 600 seem to be getting harder to find thanks for the replys

When you checked the cables, did you look for any breaks in the cable?

yes i did i as told that by some else the cables are verry easy to crack i will check it again i was told by the person i got it from that it just started doing the stripe thing be nice if that was all it was thanks again

The difference between my post(s) and yours is that mine were not laced with attitude. It's much easier to understand something when it's written in the language you know, not gibberish. It's for your own good.

I guess that is my mistake then. That is how i took it. I just came here looking for advice.witch i got and thanks to the people that gave it.

I did pick up an 600 from ebay today. the guy said the screen was good. It also had some other parts i was looking for. I hope that does the trick . Thanks again
