Problem with Ethernet card in TP600

I have a TP600 2645 31U with w/WinXP. Years ago I used a Linksys PCMPC100 with it for wired ethernet. When I went wireless I started using Linksys WPC cards and put the PCMPC100 in storage. Now I am starting to travel and need a wired port to avoid going to the lobbies for hotspot use. However I can't seem to get it to work again.

I put it in the top slot (with the WPC card below). I've downloaded the drivers on Linksys site and manually installed them using add new hardware/have disk. Properties for the card says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I just did a reinstall of Windows XP the other day. Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it or why it might not be working?

Yeah, Windows! :) Sorry, couldn't resist.

On a more serious note, have you tried removing the wireless card and using the ethernet card in the bottom PCMCIA slot? I've seen (and have) 600X systems with only one slot working. See if that helps.
