I posted a reply in the OS section to a thread, but I think I put it in the wrong place.
I have a problem with a 770ED. Just put a new hard drive and a fresh install of Win 98SE on it and have the same problem with the small window in the center of the screen. I have updated drivers, and still only have 2 or 16 color options, and 640 x 480 pixels resolution. The TP configuration stretches the screen but will not allow you to change resolution. I’m sure it is a driver problem. Still searching for a driver that works.
I put the correct driver on a disk from IBM web site. I thought I would try this, but it insists on using the generic Windows driver. The message I get is " The specified location does not contain information about your hardware." I disabled the Windows driver but it still does not like the IBM driver. Any thoughts or experience with this?
Thanks,
Rodger
770ED monitor issues
OK, I got it. I had to go back several times to pick my hardware from a list before I told it I had a disk. Every time it would list IBM thinkpad and give a 1024 x 768 lcd. The last time it listed IBM and let me select the proper hardware. So, it would not see the proper driver because It did not have the proper hardware info. What a PITA.
Thanks,
Rodger
Thanks,
