Well!
What can i say the Upgrade of my 770Z to PIII 750mhz with speedstep mod didn't go well.
Now i have a error that somethimes comes up. The blue screen error says:
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error, then turn the computer on again and it ask to connect to the internet to report the fatal error.
Then internet explorer opens and microsoft reporting says that the error is caused by the BIOS because it doesn't understand the cpu i have installed ( something like that )
The cpu is running great at 750
I fell like

and

because of this error keeps crashing my lappy.
Any ideas?
Note:
I already have reinstall XP and same thing happens.

Are you sure you have the latest BIOS installed? Is there something special that will trig the error, eg some particular program?

I remove one of the rams so now the 770Z is working with only 256mb of ram and the cpu is running at 750mhz.
I have the unit on since last night and i heve not seen the Blue Screen again, What may be the problem? CPU or ram related.
Anyway i order another cpu a 800mhz MMC-2 let's see if the error continues.
Please post any ideas i am open to any suggestions.

Ok, I replaced the 750mhz processor with the stock 650mhz that my 600X came with. Of course prior to install it i perform the speedstep mod and now the laptop runs perfectly.
I been using it all day and no more errors. But the funnt think is that i installed the 750mhz processor in my daughter dell cpx j650 and everything is fine the processor is performing perfect in her machine.
Diagnostic, my 770Z doesn't like the 750mhz processor i hope when i receive and install the 800mhz processor they get along.

Update!
I receive the 800mhz processor i did the speedstep mod and also i had to modify the heatsink to make it make direct contact to the palte of the cpu to maximize the heat transfer. Termal paste was used, the temperature range is from 66c to 77c when defragment the hard drive i have not seen any errors yet i will use it tomorrow at the office to observe it.
Impresions:
Feels great!
More responsive.
The change from PII 366mhz to PIII 800mhz is a big improvement.
Question, Is anyone out there in the forum who is running his 770Z with a 750, 800 or 850mhz processor?

I think there are a few. I ran my 770Z with a PIII 800 for a while last month, before putting back the PIII 500 while I was troubleshooting. I'm planning on putting the PIII 800 back in again when I get the chance.

Thanks! Phil,
Did you remove the 800 mhz cpu for any special reason? Wasn't it working the way it should, any errors?
I found strange that my lappy didn't work with the 750 cpu but it does with the 650 and also with the 800mhz.
Thanks again for your input.

I was having other problems with the unit, and so I had to go back to my last working config, which was the PIII 500.
I originally tried the upgrade just to test it out, since I was curious if I could get it running at max speed without the SpeedStep mod simply by using a fresh install of Windows 2000 SP4 (it didn't get to max speed, but ran OK at the expected 650MHz). But I ran into some other problems -- you may remember this thread?:
770Z Test Errors - Display error - DEV 053 ERR 92 FRU 0042. And then I had these PIO/SelectaDock problems:
SelectaDock III with HDD - File transfers, PIO, corruption. I'm close to having my whole set of laptops and docking stations working correctly again now, and once they are, then I'll be trying the PIII 800 again.

Yeah, i remember it i even had to get a DEVA card just to have the same configuration as you to help with the tests.
