400Mhz MMC-1: Drop-In replacement?

#1 Post by RWDPLZ » Tue Oct 17, 2006 11:54 am

I just got a 400Mhz MMC-1 type Pentium II off eBay for $30 shipped. I've checked the archives but haven't been able to find a definative answer: Is the processor a drop-in replacement for the 266Mhz processor in my 770ED? Or will it give an error code(s) on startup or something?

Ebay auction # 140036073505, a LOT cheaper than the others I've found on there. The processor part number is PMF40002001AA, from a Toshiba Terca

If the cpu you got installed is a MMC-1, it should work. :)

I just got it installed, and it's working fine. In fact, I think this is the first post I've made here from the Thinkpad. Thanks!
