Cell phone hook up

#1 Post by Computer Dummie » Tue Apr 27, 2004 8:32 pm

I have a 560e. I would like to hook my cell phone up to this computer to get into the internet.(Don't need to, just want to) I have a Samsung a460 phone. And Sprint service. All the cables I see have a USB connection. So I bought a Belkin USB 2.0 notebook card. Was told it would work. It does not fit in the PCMCIA slot.

Is it just the wrong card? Or does anybody know where to get a serial port connection? Or how can it be done?
Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

You have the wrong card. Your 560E isn't capable of using a USB2.0 card as the PCMCIA port isn't Cardbus (32BIT) enabled.

Get a PC card to USB1.1 adapter and you'll be fine.

You can't find one because they don't exist. Sorry about that, I wasn't thinking when I originally replied as you need a Cardbus enabled PC card slot for ANY type of USB card to work.

So, I guess the answer is that with this computer I can't put a usb connection on it? Would that be right?
Thanks,

Mike

That's right. Check to see if there's a serial cable for your cell phone, that's about the only way you're going to be able to connect to it.
