i1400 from a different angle

#1 Post by Weanuts » Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:42 pm

Can someone please tell if I were to strip harddrive of all (format) and use fdisk to combine partitions as 1 (C) reinstall WIN98 SE, can I expect battery meter to operate? Can I aquire software off of net if I loose meter to get it up and running again, or can I still purchase an IBM-Lenova disk to bring it back to stock, and, or do I necessarily want last option, or need it? Last post along these lines was here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=209347

thanks in advance

What, exactly, is wrong with the battery meter? I remember that on the 380 series of laptops, the battery meter was crippled by IBM to only report 0%, 10%, 80% and 100%. I'm not sure if this is the case with your i1400 though hence my asking about the exact issue.

AlphaKilo470, The problem I am having is with Norton Anti Virus not sleep manager. I would like to have use of sleep manager but I felt with no decent backup disks, I wouldn't be able to have access to sleep manager. I was going to format drives and fdisk into one partition and reinstall MY Win98SE. I wish you could help me with disabling and turfing Norton Anti Virus. I have tried to remove from ctrl panel-add rem software- Norton but there are some files missing and havnt had any luck removing it Tried to disable Norton under run-msconfig-start while in safe mode, but it just will not leave. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for your reply

Thank you very much for your suggestions. The rnav file from another download site worked. Appreciate that, but, although NAV is out I still can't do an orderly shut down. Start-Shutdown, or Restart, Restart in MsDos mode, do not work. Any more suggetions would be greatly appreciated .
