Can I use any 2.5" hdd for my ThinkPad 600?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Can I use any 2.5" hdd for my ThinkPad 600?

#1 Post by voitek » Sun May 16, 2004 5:50 pm

My original HDD crashed several days ago and I would like to buy a new one. What hard disks can I use in my ThinkPad 600 besides original parts? Would some 9.5 mm 2.5" disk operate normally (although it is a little bit slimmer)? I'm sorry for this kind of question, but I don't know much about disks. Thank you for your help.

Check web sites like Kahlon.com who sell drives specifically for individual thinkpads.

Any modern HD 12.5mm slim or smaller of any capacity will fit in the 600 series.

Yea, I've stuck at least 25 different drives in mine, tey all worked fine... Get yourself a 5400rpm 8mb cache or a 7200rpm drive... faster drives makes the computer ALOT more responsive
