Trackpoint error. Download a copy of the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the 600X from here:

IBM 600X HMM

Can it be fixed? By itself, probably not if it's a problem with the stick itself. On the bright side, it could be caused by a bad connection in the small ribbon cable. If you can follow the instructions inside the HMM to remove the keyboard, try re-seating the connector on the thin ribbon cable that goes up to the back side of the Trackpoint. You may only have a bad connection. If that doesn't work, keyboard replacement is the suggested solution.

Or, you could do like kyocera suggests... just ignore the problem :)

(edit: Sorry for my statement about the thin connector. The Trackpoint signals are routed on the larger (wider) of the two ribbon cables coming from the keyboard. My memory needs a re-boot :) .)

Received a used keyboard from ebay. I replaced the damaged one , my abused 600x fired right over. I love the 600 series thinkpad. I am going to upgrade the cpu to 650 and add some memory. These are fun and easy units to work on.
