What are my options?

I got a Thinkpad iSeries 1400 from a frien for free. It has a bad keyboard. The specs:
Pentium 266mmx
32mb of ram
cdrom
floppy
bad battery

What can i do with this thing? I don't know what to do with it. Is there anything i can upgrade? I heard that this was the place to go for help with thinkpads.

I would start by taking a look at the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the proper FRU number and removal and installation procedures. If you then feel comfortable doing it yourself, here might help.

I have one of these. Mine is a 2611-412, 366hz Celeron, ya da, yada! I have had to replace the cd drive, batt, keyboard and hard disk at some time or another. You will find that it comes apart easily and goes back together with no complaint. The key board is a snap to replace and cheap.
Usibility of this unit is questionable. 800x600 screens are just marginal for surfing the web but work ok for email. I have XP Home on it and 256meg of ram. It runs well now and I use it for guests here at the house. I equipped it with a WiFi card and the necessary software for them to use. It keeps them off my Wife's and my computers.
Fix it! It is a fun project.

Well, i already know about how easy it is to take apart. The keyboard kept giveing me problems so i took it off, unplugged it, then put it back on to protect the inside of the computer. What type of ram does it take? How do i upgrade the processor?
