i have a good working 600 main battery, i was running on battery power for over an hour on my IBM 600 300mhz 352MB nothing running or using alot of power....just trying to install some network drives and i let it run down til it went into hibernate mode.
ok, nothing wrong that....but i now notice the light on the left hinge won't turn back to green even after about two days now. i powered on yesterday and it said it was charging at 36%...still.
the other thing i need to let you know is, i'm using the power adapter from A31 laptop...but it should work my 600 too, no. i read it was the same specs for power adapters. i have another power adapter for the 600, i was wondering it anyone came across this or i should just try charging it with my 600 adapter. strange and making me worried that i toasted something.
thanks for any thoughts, help
Is this normal ?

The two (IBM?) adapters should be compatible with respect to, voltage and polarity of the DC plug. What can be different is the wattage, but that should not affect your system. The 600 adapter should be 54 watts (16V 3.36A) and the A31 adapter 72 watts (16V 4.5A). Plugging the 72 watt adapter into the 600 laptop will not cause any problems, I do it all of the time for my 600 systems.
What could be an issue is that the A31 power supply is defective. You would need a voltmeter to check that it is still outputting the 16V that it should. Try charging the battery with the original 600 supply (if you already haven't) and see if that works. If it does, junk the A31 power supply. If BOTH supplies do not charge the battery properly, then what you may be looking at is a bad battery or a motherboard issue.

Strange issue. Maybe some battery circuitry fried out on the mobo or the battery itself. Really never heard something like this happening without some kind of power surge. It could be the power brick is defective and caused the problem, but that is unlikely if you never had this happen before.
