570 boot time

#1 Post by carbon_unit » Thu Sep 02, 2004 10:05 pm

I was readying one of my 570's for my mom and I wonder if there is any way to shorten the boot time?
It is 25 seconds until the POST beep and then 15 more seconds before it boots.
Is the slow boot just a characteristic of the 570?

The same here.

No, my 570 and 570E immediately boot up after the POST beep. Are you sure you've set the boot order correctly? If you don't need to boot from CD or floppy, put the hard drive first.

go undocked

Howdy,
for what it is worth, I notice my 570 machines boot much faster when they are undocked. So, I only dock them when I know I will use the CD(usually for a reinstall to test a new distribution). I have 5 570 thinkpads and they are my general purpose test machines. Now, if I could just find a 256 meg memory module cheap.
I hope this helps.
