Thinkpad 570 -- Need flickering pixel fix

#1 Post by kc » Tue Sep 07, 2004 1:23 pm

I'm trying to extend the useful life of my well used TP 570. Often, after 10-20 minutes of use, pixels on the left side of the display will start to flicker. It's hard to describe -- sometimes it's clumps of pixels, sometimes lines, and sometimes whole areas with ghosting -- alternating between normal and purple/white -- typically on the left side of the LCD. My current current cure is a sharp whack to the LCD, which usually calms things down for a while.

About a year ago, when this started, I disassembled the TP and reseated all the LCD connections. Whether coincidence or not, it helped for a while.

I'd appreciate anyone with an idea better than whacking my LCD.

Thanks in advance.

One more try. Based on the prior570 LCD posts, I'm hoping there are some experts on this forum who can take a shot at a solution.

Thanks.

Try reseating all the LCD connections again, inside the lid as well. It is probably one of the wires - signal or power, between the system board and the lid that has failed though. Test for this by jiggling the wires after you have got access to them.
