Battery not charging and PSU acting strangely

#1 Post by Yenix » Wed Jan 03, 2007 5:15 pm

Hello,
I have the following problem:
Today, when I plugged my PSU to my TP600, it did not start charging the battery. (in Windows, there remains the battery symbol in the tray).
When I turn off the laptop and connect the PSU, the battery light flashes orange few times, then it stays green for about 5 seconds and then it starts to flash orange again. After some flashes, the light turns green for a short time again and so on. The number of flashes varies from 3 to 9 flashes.
The battery is about 1 year old and I can run the NB on it for about two hours.
The PSU is original IBM 16V 3.36A.
Have any idea what can be wrong?
And one more stupid question. Should I try to connect the laptop to the PSU and try to turn it on when the battery is taken out?
Thanks for your experiences.
J.

Try getting mobilmeter, check for the wear level in the preferences.
