I am trying to help someone in Australia get their 380ed running again. It has lost its time and date and it is evident that the cmos battery is dead.

The battery in the tpad is unmarked.

Does anyone know what battery is specified for this model ?? The HMM doed not give any battery info.

If you are trying to replace the battery with an "off-the-shelf" battery, then most any 3V lithium battery, with the physical dimensions of the original battery, should work. CR2023 or CR2025 come to mind.

If you want to replace it with one that already has leads attached (ala the original battery), then eBay is one source you can find these batteries.

In fact, here's one that has the battery information you are probably looking for:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0071890689

They reference several IBM FRUs. I don't have a copy of the 380ED HMM at the moment to verify if any of these are correct.

(edit: The vol4hmm.pdf file lists 46H4132 as the backup battery for the 380ED, the same FRU as in the eBay listing above.)

The 380 CMOS battery is just a standard off the shelf battery. You don't need leads for it; same goes for the 770 CMOS battery. If you have a 380, you'll want a CR1220 cell.

That's what I get for trusting the pictures and descriptions off an eBay seller and other online stores :) !

Looking closer at the HMM, the pictorial diagram that shows the backup battery does not show any leads coming from the battery (my bad).

Thanks for your input guys. The battery has no leads in the Thinkpad.
So CR1220 it is.
