TP600 doesn't boot LiveCD

#1 Post by markintheworld » Thu Jan 18, 2007 10:20 am

I have a TP600 running WinXP, and I would really like to give Linux a try, so i downloaded LiveCDs for Knoppix and Ubuntu, but i cannot get them to boot at startup.

I have gone into the BIOS and arranged my startup order as FDD-->CDROM-->HDD. I disabled QuickBoot.

When i start up with the LiveCD in the CD drive, Windows starts up, bypassing the CD.

The CD is readable by my CD drive: it comes up in Explorer. The Windows boot CD works fine, so it's not a problem with my drive.

I tried setting the boot order as just CDROM. On startup, the screen prompts me to enter a disk and press F1, and when i press F1 i get a blinking cursor with the code: I9990305.

I've run out of things to try. Any ideas to get me going?

thanks,

Mark

Try to boot the CD in any other machine. I suspect the CD wasn't made correctly.

You're right. I burned the .iso FILES to the CD, instead of burning an image of the complete .iso.

Thanks,

Mark
