Cheap Refurbed 570 366MHz Planars

#1 Post by losmeme » Wed Jan 24, 2007 8:15 pm

Hi;

Thought I'd pass along a steal on refurbed 366MHz TP570 motherboards on eBay here:

570 Motherboard

5 bucks + 5 bucks shipping can't be beat. I have dealt with this seller before, and they are great. Excellent time to upgrade a slower model. It is erronously labeled a 570E in the auction, but the part number is clearly listed in the HMM as a 570.

I can't believe that the seller actually tested all 100 boards! Especially considering how cheap s/he is selling them for!
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)

Update;

Board arrived, looks brand new. Very clean part, packaged very well. Best thing is . . . it works like a charm!

Bag has label on it designating it as a service part from September 2002, though I don't think it is an IBM label, it must be a TekServ internal inventory label.

The only thing wrong with my old 570 motherboard was that the USB port didn't work anymore. (Since I acquired the machine) Great fix for only $10.

As of today, he still had 93 left.

WOW great price.
I have a 570E that works good.BUT i'm thinking of picking one or two of them up.Just to have "incase" mine goes bad.
BUT he listes them as 570E's with 366Mhz cpu's.
How hard would he be to put in a bigger cpu?
My 570E i have now has 13.3" screen and a P-III 500Mhz.
Can i install my 500Mhz cpu if the time comes?
What about a higher cpu than 500Mhz?

The cpu is soldered to the planar, you cannot upgrade it.

No, the 570 is larger than the X series. It is basically a full sized TP, but without internal optical or floppy drives. (which are available in an ultrabase.)

I have both a 570 and a 570E, love the portability and big screen size. I tend to use my X31 for internet, word etc. I am a graphic designer, and when away from my desktop will use the large screen of the 570E to do design work in InDesign.

Hmm...

See I am considering pickung up an ultra-portable. I have owned (and loved) a Compaq Armada M300. That was one sweet little laptop. However I was looking into IBM's just because. So the smaller of the 2 is the x series right?

See the M300 has a 10.4" screen which I really like. Is there some x series machine with something smaller than 12.1"? I noticed some of them have the 8MB Radeon which is far superior to the 4MB Rage LT on the M300.
