240 in boot crisis!!!

#1 Post by C.Manella » Sat Feb 03, 2007 4:31 pm

 Ok gurus, I have a typically configured 240 running W2K w/ SP4.
The problem is, my son was "practicing" his DOS skills and somehow he claims he went into fdisk and make the second HD partition active and now I'm getting "OS Not Found" on boot. I have No peripherals (Floppy, CD, etc.) for this laptop, otherwise the fix would be straight-forward. I did notice that in the Bios, that booting from USB is supported and I do have a thumbdrive I could use. The questions are will it work, and how can I do it? Thanks in advance for your help! (BTW: thanks to the Admin who approved my acct so rapidly, especially on the weekend!)

That would be Bill Morrow, the owner, that approved your account so rapidly.

As for your problem, my DOS skills are a little rough, but he should be able to go back in and make the correct partition active, because only one can be active at a time.

But he would need a floppy disc. C.Manella, I happen to have one for sale. Let me know if you're interested.
