There's none for the TP600, unfortunately.

BTW, if you want to buy an external floppy drive, I have an extra one that I can sell.

Yes, IBET54WW is the latest versio. (v1.22)

As for the ram, either check the ones that have been posted here, or check on eBay...

I didn't realize that you're in Canada. The postage would cost more than the drive itself! You'd be better off getting one from a Canadian source.

BTW, I'm accessing this site and typing this message on my Dell Axim X51v PDA! It really is a nice laptop replacement!

Told you so...

To wingnut and the OP: the floppy drives are relatively cheap on eBay...besides, I really recommend using the internal floppy drive, instead of the external, when performing the BIOS upgrade.

I must be really missing something too... I can not update the bios on my 2645-5bu either. I have followed the instructions on IBM and the batteryless here and still no joy!!!

When I use the instructions from IBM, I get to the part where it asks you to "Enter to extract or Esc to exit". I press enter and it ask me to enter a blank disk into drive A, then enter a blank disk into drive B, then drive A, then drive B, then A, then B. After this I get file is corrupt.

When I the batteryless instructions. I type flash2.exe /u and the cursor just blinks at me.

Can someone shed some light???

(Edit: Sorry for hijacking this thread!)

Which instructions are you referring to? I can't tell whether you've successfully created the BIOS update diskette and are now having difficulty using this diskette, or if you are still at the stage of trying to create the BIOS update diskette.

Also, which OS are you running?

Can you identify which file you've downloaded from Lenovo/IBM and then tell us exactly what you've done with it so far? - At which point in the following instruction sets do you run into your problem:
1. Building diskettes from the Web
2. BIOS Update (Diskette) - ThinkPad 600

Probably this one. I tried it with my 365X and it didn't work.

If I use the instructions from ibm I am not able to create the bios update diskette correctly.

If I use the instructions from the batteryless update, I believe I am making the update disk correctly, but missing something. I only get the cursor laughing at me!!

I have not been able to load XP Pro because, I am getting a bsod. Currently the bios is at inet25ww.

I'm happy to try and help you out, if you can give a bit more information on what your problem is.

If you cannot creat the BIOS update disk on your ThinkPad, you should be able to use another computer to create the update disk. You will not be able to update your BIOS if you cannot create the Thinkpad 600 BIOS update disk (also called the System Program Service Diskette).

Do you have a working battery?

If yes, then can you identify which file you've downloaded from Lenovo/IBM and then tell us exactly what you've done with it so far? - At which point in the following instruction sets do you run into your problem:

Thanks Pkiff... I started from the beginning of making the service diskette from the instructions on IBM. I tried to format a few disks to start. I kept getting an error message that windows could not format the disks. I tried a different disk. Still got the same error. I got mad and threw that floppy drive out the window

I calmed down and remembered I had a spare drive. Started the instructions from the beginning and it worked. Now I am a happy camper and bios is updated.
