I have a ThinkPad i Series 1400 2611-412 with Celeron 366 MHz (128KB) 32MB RAM 4.8GB

I was wondering if there was a faster celeron chip I can put into it.

That Celeron 366 runs with a 1.6V core voltage and is in a micro-PGA2 package. The only other faster Celeron with the same core voltage and package is the Celeron 400... probably not worth making the change, in my opinion.

The fastest 66 MHz front side bus Celeron in the micro-PGA2 package is the Celeron 466, but it requires a 1.9V core voltage. I would be very surpised if this one would work.

An interesting choice to consider might be the Celeron 900. This is in the correct package, but has a 1.7V core voltage. This processor is designed for a 100 MHz bus, but assuming it would run OK with a 66 MHz bus (I don't know) then it would scale down to 9 x 66MHz which is still 600 MHz. Processors can sometimes work OK with a lower core voltage than specified, if it's running at a slower speed than designed... so maybe you could get away with running it at 1.6V if that 900 MHz processor will in fact run at 600 MHz in a 66 MHz system).

I can't remember if the processors are soldered in on these i1400s, so that's another issue, too.

Unfortunately, the only way to upgrade the processor is to upgrade the system board, as the processor is soldered to the system board.

Just curious, can you get the wireless to work? I gave up weeks ago. Still a nice little machine to have around.

I dont have a wireless card for that laptop, however, I have one on my 1300i series, and the wireless stoped working after I did the winxp updates, until I got a Microsoft wireless router for $5 and it is able to connect to it, I hope this helps.
