600E won't boot

#1 Post by larrussell9 » Sat Sep 18, 2004 9:24 am

When I start the laptop it goes to the Thinkpad logo and ram count, that's it, it does nothing else. I tried with the f1 key down, and restarting but it will not enter easy setup. Any suggestions. Thank you

Make sure the power is all the way off....take the battery out too if in doubt. Then put the battery in....reset the 600 (little pin hole next to the USB slot), then try again. Hold the F1 down BEFORE turning on the power...and as you hold it down, slide the power switch on. Hope this helps. Seems that the behavior you're describing often happens when the 600E/X doesn't recognize the HDD installed. Could be a defective HDD or not seated properly. Anyway, try the suggestions above before getting into HDD issues.
