390X mobo in 390E?

#1 Post by I_Am_Banana » Mon Feb 26, 2007 1:36 am

Hey,

This is coming from someone seriously interested in upgrading a 390E just so that it can play DVDs and run just a bit faster. I would like to upgrade the processor but the 390E board only supports a 66mhz front side bus speed. Doesnt the 390X system board support 100fsb? The other question is... will the 390X board be a direct fit? Does anyone have one cheap?

Thanks,
Ben

It should slot right in to the E plastics. And yes, it should be a 100Mhz bus. Kingston Memory products actually listed their IBM PC100 RAM as 390X type for ThinkPads through the A/T/X 2x right up to the PC133 A30/T23.
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)
Historic Retired ThinkPads- T42p, X20, A31p, 701c, 760XD, WorkPad C505
