Hello,

I just talked with two guys owning a thinkpad 600x and according them the fans should stop at some point if the cpu is not getting hot. So far I was really thinking that it was normal that my fans were spinning even if I was not doing cpu intensive tasks but now since I spoke with those guy I start wondering if there is something wrong with my thinkpad.

I upgraded the BIOS with the last version available ( 1.20) to see if it could help but obviously it doesn't. Please if someone have some tips I would be very pleased to read them. Help me to get rid off this endless fan noise thanks.
:D

hi, i got a 600e and my fan is also spinning all the time wheter in use or not.
while startup it runs about 10s and then stopps, but as soon as the system temp hits ~32°C it starts to run, doesnt matter how cold the cpu is or not.

i dont think its regulated by the cpu-temp but by the system temp, here why i think so:

i did run prime95 with the case open, cpu temp went up to ~80°C and systemtemp was still around 27°C and the fan was not spinning at all!!!!

however right now my cpu has 42°C and my system 36°C and the fan is working.

but i have to say my fan is quiet so it doesnt bother me at all, maybe you could record yours so we can compare ? maybe its at the end of its lifetime...

oh, i used mobilemeter to measure the temperatures

cheers

Hi dudzke ! Thanks for answering

Mobilemeter is great! though I would have liked to see indicated which one is the cpu temp and which one is the system temp. I was looking around to find something similar to monitor my cpu temperature. I tried MBM5 and SpeedFan but up to now none of them could display the cpu temperature. Right now The first temp. shows 47.0 C and the second one 45 C. I guess the first temp is the cpu temp.

The insistent hum really bother me this is definitely not quiet the fans speed is too fast. Would you know some utility to slow down the fans? SpeedFan didn’t work for me.

Thanks
