600x LCD Boot problem (1 long 2 short beeps)

#1 Post by brucedv » Mon Mar 12, 2007 5:02 pm

When I power up my 600x I get 1 long and 2 short beeps then nothing. If I try repeatedly it will finally boot, run for a short time then the LCD scrambles then freezes. The system seems to still be running.

Prior to this problem I had seen the screen dim from time to time, similar to what happens when the AC is unpluged.

I found that the 1 long 2 short beeps is an LCD problem but no detail on what that means?

Is this likely an inverter card problem?

Any other suggestions

I had the same problem and it was the MOBO.

Not sure what it means, but one of your first steps in troubleshooting should probably be to connect the system up to an external monitor, switch the display to external only, and wait and see if the same corruption/dimming occurs on the external monitor. Maybe even watch both displays at once and see if it occurs only on the LCD. Maybe you've already tried this?
