Possible Dumb Question about USB and 760XD's.....

#1 Post by DoctorBill » Tue Apr 03, 2007 12:33 am

I buy stuff thru TigerDirect.com.

Looking at a catalog I just received, I saw something possibly useful.

They sell a USB Adapter Cable....

Supposedly for "Legacy" computers!

Item # C184-26886 USB to DB9 Serial RS-232 Adapter $11.99
Item # C184-35700 USB to PS/2 Adapter $3.99

Is that latter thing the little green goodie one gets with mouses!?

Is it possible that the first adapter would allow me to hook up a
USB 1.0 LEXAR Flash Memory Stick to my old 760XD and read it?
Maybe load the LEXAR drivers first...?

Can't be that simple - can it...?

#1-yes, it is the little green thing that allows you to plug you USB mouse into an old PS2 port (I actually end up getting the opposite)

#2-no, this adapter allows you to plus old serial devices into your USB port, and does NOT do the opposite. You cannot use this to add usb to your older laptop with a serial port. This is for those with no serial port and a serial mouse/touchscreen/etc.

Your best bet is a USB PCMCIA (PC card) if you can use one.

Hope this helps!
