Just wondering if anyone has tryed to install a 512meg sodimm in a 570E/P-III 500Mhz system?
I have Sisoftware Sandra and it says two ram slots.I'm guessing one is for the onboard 64megs and the open ram slot for the other. It says max ram is 1 gig.
Looks like this 570E has the intel 440BX chip set running at 100 fsb.
I know in desktops the 440bx can handle 512's.

The 570E can only handle 320 MB of Ram (64MB onboard + 256 MB stick). Most system diagnostic programs will detect 2 Ram slots. I had a 500E and my program detected 3 Ram slots. There is no such thing as a 512MB PC-100 LOW DENSITY ram chip. The 570 can only fully utilize low density Ram chips.

i see.
It's just that the 256meg ram for thease system are alot of $$$.
Up here in Canada theres only about a 20.00 diffrence in 256 to 512.
But i think the biggest thing is the low density problem.
Sure would be nice to have two ram slots instead of the 64megs onboard.
