#1 Post by TomKroscavage » Sat Apr 07, 2007 2:23 pm

I get an error 174 every time I put screws in the back of my TP 600E. Any thoughts?

The 600E Hardware Maintenance Manual says it's a "configuration error" and that you should check the Installed Devices List in BIOS. Power on holding the F1 key until you get the EZ Setup menu, then select the Test icon. If you know that a particular device is installed yet it displays as a grey icon and is not selectable/testable, then you've found the problem. Otherwise, test all parts of the system and see if it returns any errors.

Possible problem when installing the screws is that you are using one that is too long. Each hole on the bottom of the 600E should have an "arrow" next to it signifying the relative length of the screw that goes in that particular hole. The two longer ones can be easy to mix up. Either that, something is being pinched when you tighten up the screws.
