Working NIC cards with 600X and Ghost network

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Working NIC cards with 600X and Ghost network

#1 Post by UDX » Tue Apr 10, 2007 8:29 am

This is related to Ghost 2003 and ability to use network with Thinkpad 600X.

All the PCMCIA cards that I have failed - even my Netgear FA411 that just about worked everywhere else.

Only one card hasn't failed; DLink DFE670TXD. Although slow when using DOS mode operation, it still did the job.

My Question is; from your experience which cards would work with Ghost 2003 and network image transfer operations.

Hey thanks for the advice.

I actually took a peek at the driver and then even realized that I have US Robotics 7901A.

Both of these cards are based of Realtek 8139 chip and it worked like a charm. I was even surprised that it works with speeds of 160 megabytes per minute (double of the DLink DFE670 TXD) using the US Robotics packet driver.

Gotta love PCMCIA!!!

Funny that on the older 600 that I have this card won't work but Realtek 8169 Gigabit works perfect. (Something like NetGear GA511 I think, Trendnet TEGPCBUSR, and just about any other Gigabit PCMCIA card cuz they are all the same).
