I went on e-bay looking(just looking for now) on cpu's for the 390X system.
I'm not 100% what to look for.
I belive that the 390 and 390E thinkpads only have the 66mhz bus.
But the 390X has the 100mhz bus.
But the 390X i have here has a celeron 400.I think it's a 66Mhz bus cpu.
I just want to know what cpu's will work in the 390X.
Will i have to do any motherboard modding putting a 100bus cpu in there where there use to be a 66mhz bus cpu?
Is it P-III 450 or 500 something to look for?
I think it's a mmc-2 cpu.i think.
I'm looking on the ibm's site for info on the 390X's now to see what i can find out.
Just thought i'd post it here too.
Thanks
Love the thinkpads.Even got my buddy to buy a new T60P last week(core 2 duo,2gig ram,100gig 7200,dvd-rw,15.4 WS with 1680x1050,ect.He loves it)But he cant get a bluetooth mouse to work.see post in t60 forum.

Hi SaberX

According to side 108 of 09n8604.pdf (HMM for 390x)
there`s only one board for all cpu`s,
so i`m rather shure they all will work on that board.

IIRC the 390x can handle up to 850MHz MMC-2,
might depend on bios.

WOW.
I was thinking of a 450 or 500mhz cpu would be max.
I'll have to see about the 390X i have here and try and get it all fixed up.
Good thing i never tossed it out like i amost did a few times.
I'll have to look for a cheap MMC2 cpu for it.
