Just bought a 701CS: Battery Question

Hello.

I just bougt a 701CS from e-bay. Actually I just bought it because of the butterfly keyboard, which makes it the coolest Laptop around in my opinion. The seller then asked me if he should send me the batteriy which he said was broken. I said yes why not.
So then today I it arrived an I took out the (presumably dead) Battery and thought that it must have been changed because it looked quite new. I tried to start it on battery but nothing happend. I started it with an adapter from an x31( nice when standards don't change ), even though the original one came with it.
So I then messured the battery and at 12 volts I thought that aint so bad. So I started charging it. First 10 minutes it stayed at 1%. But then it started charging and when at 100% it stated 2:07 h battery life.
I just played Solitaire for 1:50 h before it switched of at 10%.

So my question is: How long Battery life would I get from a new battery? So that I can get an idea how good/or not mine is.

Not too bad for a "dead" battery IMHO.

Sorry for the long post but im thrilled with this nice little machine.

P.S.: Strange how I only enjoy playing Solitaire on really old laptops :D

I presume it's a Ni-MH.

I think you may have a new one on your hands and depending on what you paid for an old treasure with a new battery I'll bet your happy!

I looked at the batteries for sale on Ebay and they rate at 10.8 volts @ 1800mAH which would be about 2 hours run time.

I play solitaire on my older machines too. It's funny because even back then I played it alot......hmmm. Some things never change.....

Thanks for the Info.

Yes it is a Ni-MH with 1.9AH. (FRU P/N 25H4863)

I payed around 30€ for it which would be around 40$.
With the "New " battery, and other accesories (multiport, floppy drive, manual) I think I'm quite happy with what I got for my money. :D

Only thing was that it looked horrid on the pictures, but it turned out to be only dusty and sightly used (for a 15 year old machine)

I love the 701 thinkpads. I sold a spare one on eBay for over USD $200. The one I sold had a 166MHZ replacement motherboard, PCMCIA CDROM, WIFI, floppy and a dead battery. I have another one just lilke it that I keep in my car for war driving. I get about 1 hour and 45 minutes on the battery, but with the auto/car adapter I seldom use the battery.

I just got a new battery for my 380ED. After the recommended "conditioning" of it, I get 2 hours and 4 minutes runtime to 0% power.
