I have a 380z 96mb memory windows 2000
recently it has been so slow compared to a year ago. tried virus checks, spybot, cleanup, ccleaner, defrag, all seem to not help.
using wireless internet. IE6. seems IE globe stops spinning and just freezes so often. Is it just lack of memory-can not install more in 380z. Or does anyone have any ideas. Thanks

Could be as easy as defragging your hard drive and deleting the explorer cache. That would be the first things I'd try.

Backup all of your documents, format the HDD and reinstall Windows. Do a clean install, don't upgrade. And choose the "slow format" and "NTFS" options. Install all the Windows updates, and then only the programs that you need.

Before wiping your drive and reinstalling Windows, go into task manager and see how much CPU utilization you have when the computer is idle. If it's more than 10% (or so) then look at which process is using the most and start from there.

you can put more memory into the 380Z- I just picked up a 128MB chip on eBay for under $40 so my mom's machine is now at 160MB (the maximum for this model). I currently running Windows 98, but am thinking about XP. I've also got a 20GB HDD in there- way more than my mom will ever need! good luck!
