600E Error 127

#1 Post by schen » Thu Jun 21, 2007 10:58 am

Last night, I upgraded the processor in my 600E from a PII/300 to a 450, but it gave the L2 Error or 127. I did a search on it, but couldn't figure out how and where to get to the BIOS area to disable the L2 cache.

Anybody want to shed some light on this.... Ray maybe? :?

While I haven't done this mod myself, I do remember reading about it. A search through the archives using "127 cache disable bios" yielded a few hits. This one appears to contain the best answer:

I've done this mod on my 770Z. Here's a link to a post with a bit more instruction -- but using the same diagram that Ray links to above:
770Z CPU Upgrade Problems - PIII 500, 100MHz Mem, 127 Error.
