390X won't boot

I was trying to take a file from a USB 1.1 compatable Data Traveler and the 390x saw that there was a new data storage device but couldn't find a driver. I turned off the thinkpad and a few hours later had the file available on a cd so tried to start the 390X but nothing comes up on screen. The cd light comes on but the 3.5 drive does not respond or light up. Where is the problem?
