DVDExpress for 600E

#1 Post by pichu » Sat Jul 21, 2007 8:41 am

Hello. I want to post a link for DVDExpress software for IBM Thinkpad 600E (with hardware decoder). This software is very hard to find. I searched for them about four days. Install App, apply update and register reg file. Now you can play DVD's smoothly. If you want to play Encrypted DVD's also install AnyDVD provided with package. Enjoy ;)

Not sure I understand your question. The 600 series doesn't have a hardware decoder. (The NeoMagic video chip has some rudimentary hardware acceleration but this is not hardware decoding). DVDExpress was a software decoder and is available for download on this site (Thinkpads.Com).

There was a third party harware decoder available from MARGI, but it was designed to work with Win98-era windows and doesn't work well with XP (only works with it's own driver software).

Also, you don't need ANYDVD to decode encrypted movies (the software decoder does this). But if you want to play Region-Coded discs from another region, you will need this to prevent the 5 change limit on region code changes (this was RPC-1 on the 600 series hardware so it should only be windows that counts down the changes, not the firmware in the DVD drive like it does with RPC-2).

Hope this helps.
